EVALUATING ATTRIBUTES, TRAITS, AND COMPETENCIES OF A SCHOOL LEADER: A DESCRIPTIVE-CORRELATIONAL STUDY

Evaluation of the different characteristics a school leader in Philippines is bit limited educational literature. Hence, this study focus on assessing personal attributes, traits, and competencies leaders Hindang District, Leyte Division, to elucidate its nature promote new policy improving system. This employed cross-sectional data gathering from complete enumeration teachers district. Mean, standard deviation, coefficient variation were computed describing survey data, Spearman rho correlation was utilized determining association between variables. Results showed that are rated as "very satisfactory" concerning their "personal attributes", "traits", "result-focus", "self-orientation", "innovation", "leading people", "people performance management", development" characteristics. School also "outstanding" terms such "self-management", "professionalism ethics", "teamwork." The matrix revealed all positively correlated (strong) each other at 1% level significance. it concluded character very important asset for developing school. implies attain continuous progress school, qualification hiring must competencies, not curriculum knowledge.
